Three of the four Aspen stands around our house popped their buds yesterday. Today, the fourth stand also popped. It is amazing how fast the buds turn to green leaves when they start popping.
Dillon Reservoir on ride to Keystone
Skied last Wednesday, on Thursday rode my bike to Copper Mtn (38miles rt), worked in the yard Friday/Saturday, and today rode my bike to Keystone (32 miles rt). Looks like summer is here.
Our friend Boot called this morning and asked me if I would go skiing with him at A-Basin, (the only resort still open). He has been skiing for 84 years. Still amazing to see him ski. We had a great time.
As I was getting up to go upstairs to get a cup of coffee, I looked out the window and our local fox was starring at me. I snapped a couple of photos with only camera I had which was the IPad.
Winnie the Pooh
When we wake up in the morning and look out our bedroom window, we see “Winnie the Pooh” on Buffalo mountain created by the shadows.
A late afternoon snow storm came through Summit County starting around 4PM. By 6PM, I70 East and West bound was closed between Frisco and Vail. I just checked the Copper Snow Stake which is showing 6″. Plan to ski tomorrow.
It was -8 this morning and Vino found a new spot to lay and keep warm. He now jumps up on the fireplace downstairs. We keep the ignition flame lit and the hearth keeps warm from the heat.
While in Cambodia and Thailand, we spotted what looked like a bottles of wine along the roads. What it turned out to be was gasoline for motor bikes.
While walking around Chiagn Mai today, we particapated making a Loi Krathong (Floating Decoration) for the full moon festival. You make this using parts of the banana tree.
The candle venerates the Buddha with light, while the krathong’s floating symbolizes letting go of all one’s hatred, anger, and defilements. People sometime cut their fingernails or hair and placed the clippings on the krathong as a symbol of letting go of negative thoughts
